To, czy Bon Iver jest jeszcze wykonawcą alternatywnym, czy już kąpie się w światłach mainstreamu, ciężko stwierdzić, a zdania są podzielone. Wiadomo jednak, że w ciągu ostatnich dwunastu miesięcy Justin Vernon z gościa, który całymi dniami przesiaduje z gitarą przed swoją chatką w jednym z lasów Wisconsin, stał się prawdziwym muzycznym celebry tą. Grammy, wielkie koncerty i te sprawy. Prawdziwy Najlepszy Nowy Artysta!

Panuje takie przekonanie, że słuchanie Bon Iver już takie fajne nie jest; że „Holocene” i „Calgary” leci w odtwarzaczach nawet tych nie niezalowych ludzi. Że to takie guilty pleasure.  I coś w tym jest. Co nie zmienia faktu, że muzyka Vernona nadal potrafi działać na uczucia, chwyta za serca i…czasem wyciska łzy, jak przyznała znajoma po obejrzeniu streamu z Coachelli.

Przy For Emma, Forever Ago takiego hype’u nie było. Mało osób słuchało Bon Iver. To było wygodne i takie, hm, prawie prestiżowe. Hipsterskie! No i przede wszystkim utwory. „Skinny Love”, „The Wolves (Act I And II)” czy „Creature Fear” znają prawdopodobnie wszyscy fani alternatywy. Debiutancki album Vernona był czymś…dużym. Dużym i cichym.

Nie gorsze, a o wiele bardziej rozwinięte aranżacyjnie jest Bon Iver, Bon Iver. Najlepsza płyta roku 2011 wg dużej liczby portali tak naprawdę otworzyła drzwi artyście na „wielki świat”. Wcześniej była jednak współpraca z Kanye Westem, potem zaś…niesamowicie zły kawałek z Jamesem Blake’em. O tym jednak zapomnimy w lipcu, kiedy Bon Iver odwiedzi wpierw Open’er Festival, a kilka dni później Dour Festival. To mogą być bardzo ładne występy. Musimy je zobaczyć!

Whether Bon Iver is still an alternative artist or if he bathes in the light of the mainstream, it’s hard to tell, and opinion is divided. What is known, is that over the last twelve months, Justin Vernon, guy who hangs out all day with a guitar in front of his hut in a forest of Wisconsin, became a real musical celebrity. Grammy, great concerts and that stuff. True Best New Artist!

There is this belief that listening to Bon Iver now is not so cool, that the "Holocene" and "Calgary" play in the iPods, even those not alternative music tasted people. That this is such a guilty pleasure. And something is in it. What does not change the fact that Vernon's music can still act on the feelings, touches the heart and sometimes squeezed ... the tears, as told me my friend after watching a stream of Coachella.

With For Emma, Forever Ago wasn’t this kind of hype. Few people listened to Bon Iver. It was comfortable and so, um, a bit prestigious. Hipsterish! Well, first of all tracks. "Skinny Love", "The Wolves (Act I And II)" and "Creature Fear" know probably all the fans the alternatives. Vernon's debut album was something ... big. Big and quiet.

Not worse, and more developed in arrangements is Bon Iver, Bon Iver. Best album of 2011 by a large number of sites it really opened the door to the artist for the "big world". Previously, however, was working with Kanye West, and then the ... incredibly bad track with James Blake. But forget about this in July Bon Iver will visit Bon Iver Open'er Festival, and a few days later, the Dour Festival. It can be very nice performances. We must see them!
